The North Captiva Point House was built by Barnacle Phil and his wife Roberta Kinsey, in 1981. A true classic Florida beach house, it features great room with full kitchen, separate ‘bunk house’ and wide porches on all sides.
Standing on a private peninsula at the entrance to Safety Harbor, every direction offers a spectacular view of the harbor, Pine Island Sound, Captiva Pass and beyond. Views to the east offer the rising sun or moon in breathtaking vistas. White sandy beaches skirt the buttonwoood and sea grape grove that surrounds the house.
A private, protected deep water dock provides boats a safe berth. Outstanding fishing, birding and swimming are a given.
In the still of the night, dolphins can be heard ‘breathing’ as they round the point in search of mullet, snapper and other food.
There simply is nothing else like it.
This property can only be accessed by boat or water taxi. The property does not come with a golf cart.
What North Captiva, Florida Have to Offer Beach Lovers?
North Captiva Island, often referred to as Upper Captiva, is a secluded barrier island off Florida’s Gulf Coast in Lee County.
Accessible only by boat, ferry, or small private plane, this car-free island offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of everyday life.
With its pristine white-sand beaches, abundant wildlife, and laid-back atmosphere, North Captiva is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty.
Spanning approximately four miles in length and half a mile in width, North Captiva is home to a state preserve that occupies the southern half of the island.
This protected area features nature trails perfect for hiking and bird-watching, as well as opportunities to spot dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles along the shoreline.
The island’s beaches are renowned for shelling, often considered superior to neighboring Sanibel and Captiva Islands due to fewer visitors and more unspoiled stretches of sand.
Transportation on the island is limited to electric golf carts and bicycles, enhancing its peaceful ambiance.
Accommodations consist of private rental homes, many of which include access to amenities like pools, tennis courts, and clubhouses through memberships with the North Captiva Island Club or Safety Harbor Club.
Dining options are available at local establishments such as Mango’s Bar & Grill, offering a taste of island cuisine in a relaxed setting.
For those seeking adventure, North Captiva provides various water-based activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.
Excursions to nearby islands like Cayo Costa, Boca Grande, and Pine Island are also popular, allowing visitors to explore the diverse ecosystems and charming communities of Southwest Florida.
Whether you’re looking to unwind on a secluded beach, observe wildlife in its natural habitat, or enjoy water sports in the Gulf of Mexico, North Captiva Island offers a unique and memorable getaway.
